The Make-Up Artist plays a big role between the Fashion Photographer and Model during Fashion Photo-shoots, Runways and in Commercials. At times, there can be a demand of colors and textures, and other times there might be no description, season color or sponsored brand with new product, and the Make-Up Artist has to be skilled enough to know how to work her magic on the Model’s face and at times body.
A good Make-Up Artist can see the beauty, naturally, without the make-up being applied on the models face. The make-up itself gives a certain look that is hard to by pass from the shoot, and the Model needs to know how to carry her eyes if for instance the cheekbones are looking thinner or more highlighted, or if she has a very dramatic eye shadow work of art done or maybe even the lips and nose almost changing shape. Make-Up gives the face an attitude, and it is important to make it work with the natural beauty already on the Model’s face. A good Make-Up artist can easily change your mind after you tell her you don’t look good in certain angles or colors.
Many famous Make-Up Artist travel along on tours and movie sets with Models and Actors, and they are the right hand and the promise of beauty and perfection. Sometimes they are the promise of evil looks and blood. However, they sure know how to do their job without distracting, changing or taking away from the beauty of the Model by applying the Make-Up. True beauty is what shines from inside when the Model is satisfied with not only the make up itself, but with the Make-Up Artist herself.
Hair is an important factor as well, and it can be a very slow process because there is a lot of hair on the head that needs to look good. Once it is all put together and organized, you have a ready model for the Fashion Photographer. Of course, the Make-Up Artist cant leave the set until the Fashion Photo shoot is sure to be finished.
One very famous Make-Up Artist who has been on tour with several famous faces is Alexis Vogel. Many famous stars have her to thank for their looks. I believe that many faces she has touched will be remembered and honored for a longer time, and even past our time.
Being born in Hollywood and being the Daughter of a Painter and Artist, she developed love for colors at an early age. She attended Joe Blasco Make-Up School in Hollywood and started getting gigs in the Hollywood Scene.
