Modeling Sucks According to Top Model

Shocked.?Amazed. Choked to the bone. These are the thing you?d feel upon reading the attention-grabbing piece written by controversial Top model Paulina Porizkova. Stated in a blunt but fashionably casual manner are her own fine-edged words.?Modeling?is a phenomenal opportunity, a great job and a shitty career.

Why it?s a phenomenal opportunity and a great job

-You get to have freebies- the clothes, shoes, purses, accessories, fragrances, make up and other stuff.

-You get to have your hair and nails done by the professionals, for free.

-You get the most mind-blowing compliments with the most flowery words you?ever heard your whole life.

-You get to be dressed up like a doll.

-You get to be photographed like a Hollywood celebrity.

-You get to reach places you?ve never been to.

-You get to meet the most extraordinary, creative and talented people in and out of the industry.

-You get to be handed from one designer or company to another if your look is very inspiring and garners big bucks.

-You get the job without a degree or any amount of intelligence as long as you look well enough to be a model.

However there?s always a catch?

Although it is an attractive job,it is also less life fullfilling. Imagine being a muse or inspiration to just one person or brand when there are people who teach, heal or enforce the law. It sucks, she tells us. So here?s why modeling?s a shitty career.

-You need to be skinny enough so it takes a lot of dieting.

-You need to put on a happy face even in your grumpiest days.

-You need to be a robot in front of the camera and on the runway. It?s like being programmed by the designer or the photographer to act as they like it.

-You need to keep on looking fresh, otherwise there are younger ones eager to grab any job just to reach their hope of becoming a model of the runway or a hot ad campaign.

All the same, most girls would prefer modeling to other jobs that require too much effort, as if the demands of being a model are not high enough. Anyway, a model only needs the right genes, the right location and the right time to actually get her major break. Even though Tyra Banks?s assertion that girls can be taught and trained to becoming a top model if they want it so bad is bullshit to Porizkova, it actually works for girls with the least opportunities of being discovered, say, if you live in the darkest slums, the farthest forests of Africa, or in the most rural part of town.
