Critics claim that Chanel?s creative director Karl Lagerfeld has completely lost his senses for allowing such a deviant item to be carried into the Spring/Summer 2013 runway among the stylish and sophisticated clothes.
Lagerfeld provides a simple, yet straight-to-the-be explanation for the inclusion of such a controversial item in Chanel?s Spring/Summer 2013 range- the notorious hula hoop tote (notorious, as if it could hurt anybody).
What the halters was he thinking?
?It?s for the beach,? he told the Telegraph. Is this a joke?
Lagerfeld adds, ?You need space for the beach towel, huh? And then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it.?
However, his brief explanation wasn’t enough to justify the bag?s existence. It wasn’t just made to be used but to influence. Isn’t Lagerfeld always a winning candidate in fashion politics?
He tells the AFP that ?it?s all about volume and lightness, which normally don?t go together? which translates to good for the catwalk with the hint of exaggerated glamour that opts to inspire as art.
Well, that sums it up and unless you?re planning to hit somebody with the massive carry-on, there is no way that it could be a wise wear. It?s never advisable to jump to conclusions upon seeing the latest Chanel collection.
The newest purse in fashion isn’t such a bad idea after all. In fact, it?s quite functional. The public?s reaction, whether or not it was precedented by the fashion icon himself, was apparently full shock. Headlines resulted as the the oversized and unconventionally designed purse was introduced and were followed by unappealing adjectives such as useless, infamous, ridiculous, and impractical to name a few. But as Gossip Girl says, you?re nothing till you?re talked about, and we can certainly say the same for Chanel?s hula hoop innovation.
?It? bag or not, it?s Chanel. Somebody?s going to wear it. Take Alexa Chung.
