Annie Leibovitz

Annie was born October 2nd in Connecticut, and became a Painting major at San Francisco Art Institute, while taking night classes in Photography. Going back and forth between the slow art process of painting and the fast as light art form of photography at night in a fairy like city led her to becoming the chief photographer for Rolling Stone’s Magazine. After 10 years of working with them, she had shot 142 covers.

She then joined the staff for Vanity fair and Vogue. The successes continue in to ad campaigns for Got Milk?, American Express and Gap.

Today, she lives in New York City and has three children; Sarah, Susan and Samuelle.

Art organizations she has worked for are: American Ballet Theatre, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Mark Morris Dance Group and more.

Books about her are: Annie Leibovitz: Photographs (1983), Photographs: Annie Leibovitz (1970-1990-(1991)), Olympic Portraits (1996), Women (1999), American Music (2003), A Photographer’s Life (1990-2005-(2006)).

Her work has been on Exhibitions and Galleries around the world such as : National Portrait Gallery, The Corcoran Gallery, The International Center of Photography, The Brooklyn Museum, The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Centre National de la Photographie, Paris and The National Portrait Gallery, London.

Her awards are as follows: A living Legend by The Library of Congress, Barnard College Medal of Distinction and The Infinity Award in Applied Photography from The International Center of Photography. She was also decorated a Commandeur in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government.

She has Photographed many of celebs in fairy Disney shots; Penelope Cruz as Belle, J.LO as Jasmine and Jessica Biel as Pocahontas.

Her energy has a beautiful spirit to it, and people get pumped up about life and it’s mysteries, while her photography takes you to a level of spiritual freedom and to the mystical truth of expressing with the living arts, even if it’s just a table, it is still a part of life. The creativity she brings is non competitive but with the concept of how Beauty Kills and is Dangerous on the limitless edge of fame and brave recognitions, without denying the dark secrets that makes sense out of fairy tales, and what people really try to say when they mention Love in this world. Everything that one goes through to reach high’s and low’s, while the tough part is to realize dreams are alive whilst in the center of it all.

Her photography stays naturally true to the litterateurs, and admits the planning inside the Model’s mind and ?justifies?the intelligence.

Annie’s latest most famous Photograph is of the creative and famous pop icon singer and performer Lady Gaga in Vanity Fair.

As seen in the YouTube Video, many of people are working on this particular photograph, and it is important to show the relationship between the Artist, in this case Lady Gaga, and The Photographer. These two characters play the role of fame, whilst the rest of the crew make sure of the Artistic Result.

Annie recently avoided bankruptcy after buying back control of her photographs in England, (24 million USD loan from a finance company that threatened to take the control from her.) The lawsuit was however dropped, and they extended the maturity date on the loan. How much she has to pay has not yet been announced. All they told the public is that she pay’s it back monthly.
